Yippee Two Kinds of Pie

You can't believe how much better pie tastes when someone besides your mom makes it.  She ate every bite of these two pieces.  Ryan opted for all of the chocolate dessert selections.  He ate every bite too.

Thanksgiving Feast at Marina Palmira

All of the folks in the Marina contributed to a massive potluck.  We brought stuffing - which was a big hit. We had more food then we have ever had.  Kelly commented that it was better than Thanksgiving at home because there was more interesting and different food to choose from.  The only problem was that there were no leftovers to take home.

Dad and the kids

Enjoying the Food in La Paz

Sculputure in La Paz

Exploring the Malecon in La Paz

Today we ventured out to explore La Paz. Our first stop was Marina de La Paz. The spot where all cruisers in La Paz stop. Every morning they host coffee hour where you can trade stories, get great recommendations and meet other families sailing in Mexico. We met several families who like us are traveling with kids.

After coffee hour we stopped in on a spot that has truly amazing food - Rancho Viejo - a restaurant recommended by the folks we met at Club Cruceros at Marina de La Paz.  We loved it.  Especially Ryan.

After lunch we walked back to Marina Palmira where we are staying.  Along the way we saw some great scupture on the Malecon here.

Shopping at the Super Mercado

Well today we ventured out to find food and drink.  Who knew that stores here would be as big and as well stocked as at home.  We had to walk quite a way to get to the Mercado but we were pleased by how much we found and the prices.  We decided to cab it back to the boat to save the perishables.

Laurie and Phil

The crew was happy to share a few cervezas before they have to set to sea.  They managed to get through the line a couple of times before they headed back to the boat to make last minute preparations for departure.

BAJA HA HA Send Off Party

To start the BAJA HA HA adventure off right, it is only fitting that Laurie and Phil join all the other revelers at the send off party which traditionally takes place in the parking log of the West Marine store in San Diego.  So the kids and I went along with the "crew" to join in the festivities.  Since this is a costume party you would expect to see lots of pirates but I was not prepared for the cockroaches, Hari Krishnas or the jellyfish.  If this is what sailing with this group is like this is a great start to our adventure.
